Historic Sapperton

Originally a suburb of New Westminster, Sapperton is located in the northeastern end of the city bordering the City of Coquitlam and City of Burnaby. The neighborhood was once the location of the barracks and other hosing for the Royal Engineers, Columbia Detachment, who were also known as “sappers.”

Today, Sapperton is home to hundreds of local businesses as well as the Royal Columbian Hospital. Sapperton is conveniently accessible by Skytrain via Sapperton and Braid Stations.

Don’t miss the Annual Sapperton Day StreetĀ Festival this year. This non-profit community event is put together by the Sapperton Business Association and Wesgroup Properties and has been running since the 1970’s. All proceeds from the festival will be donated to the Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation to ensure the highest medical standards for the future. This celebration of summer features live performances, activities and delicious food!
