This free event will bring those affected by Parkinson’s disease (PD) together with friends, family, neighbours and the community to share a fun, enriching and stimulating experience. Many physical and cognitive symptoms of PD can be addressed by engaging in a creative process such as painting – wellness through the arts! No painting experience necessary.
This event also aims to help bring relief of some of the symptoms of PD. Some people with the disease “hide” out at home so we hope to encourage the participants to feel active and part of the community. Participants will also meet others affected with PD and hopefully makeconnections and friendships.
Painters will feel proud to produce a work of art to bring home – a 12 x 12 canvas representation of artist Iris Mes-Low “Tulips”. The tulip has been the worldwide symbol of Parkinson’s disease since April 11, 2005.
Although this event was inspired to reach those living with PD, we will include anyone in the community who wants to join us – others such as families, friends, neighbours etc. Painting for Parkinson’s will be free and welcome to all. Another positive aspect of this event is that it will increase awareness of Parkinson’s that will foster understanding and support.
