The theatre has up to 364 seats, based on configuration, including a balcony level or the option to retract theatre seating for a range of flat floor configurations. Complete sound, lighting and projection inventories and a wall-to-wall tension grid make the theatre extremely efficient to use. Loading is convenient and dressing and green rooms comfortable and quiet.

Douglas College offers a wide variety of arts events year round that are presented by the Creative and Performing Arts Program. Literary readings, concerts and theatre performances are held September through April, and the gallery exhibits artwork year-round. All events are open to the public.

The Departments of Theatre and Stagecraft & Event Technology present four productions each year with two in November and two in March. Students work on stage and behind the scenes under the guidance of professional directors and designers.

The Vagabond Players inhabit The Bernie Legge Theatre and have staged numerous classics over the past 75 years. The theatre is named for Bernie Legge who passed away in the summer of 1997.

Vagabond Players is not just a troupe that puts on plays; it is a learning center for people interested in becoming actors, directors,  lighting or sound technicians, set designers, and costumers. It is also a place where aspiring writers can present their new work.
